Baldwin Swamp is a huge environmental park in Bundaberg with extensive wetlands. Lots of large purple Swamphen here,
Spoonbills
And this tiny beautiful Peaceful Dove:
We also checked out Bundaberg's botanic garden, but by this time of day we could only creep from shady spot to shady spot because of the heat and humidity.
The botanic garden is home to a gigantic rookery
hosting 4 kinds of egrets
Cattle Egret
and hundreds of ibises,
very interesting to us, but probably very annoying to Bundabergers who just want to enjoy their park since they ruin the trees and defecate everywhere!
By now it was all we could do to creep from shade tree to shade tree to avoid the heat and humidity so we escaped to our local air conditioned pie shop (bakery) for pastry for Leo and a reviving coffee milkshake for me.
