Return to Brewery Gulch

On Monday we revisited Brewery Gulch in Bisbee, an old mining town turned touris/artist/retirement town.

Apparently, they knew Leo was coming:

Together to the gulch, we walked up  Brewery Avenue, past the town's saloons.  The road turns residential, with a fie display of Bisbee fences, made from bicycle wheels,

driftwood,

bed parts,

(not a fence, but you get the idea).

Eventually the houses petered out and we continued to follow the dry creek bed up the hillside.

Two years ago we were directed to the gulch by a local bird guide as a sure place to find the uncommon black-Chinned sparrow, but no luck this trip, though Leo did get a good shot of my favourite Arizona sparrow, the rufous-crowned sparrow:

By 11 am it was hot, and time to retreat to the Bisbee coffee spot for a sweet treat.

  1. Ha, ha. Mother and I knew you'd be returning to Bisbee and have been waiting for this post. Sorry, can't identify the desert fern for you (too many to chose from).
