Our next destination was Munvho Lake, but we arrived to find the two small provincial campsites were full with laid off Fort Nelson energy sector workers, according to the friendly flagman at a road construction site. We checked out the private Muncho Lake Lodge, but they were charging $55 for very cramped sites.
Instead, we carried on past the lake to the trailhead for some mineral licks. Not legal to camp here but Glen used to be the Park Ranger and he said noone would kick us out and he was right.
After we set up we checked out the mineral lick trail, but no luck finding wildlife.
Nice views though.
Next we drove back to the lake and put our boats in.
Glen and Cathy went fishing and the rest of us checked out 2 beaches and had two dips.
Muncho Lake was beautiful but we all felt there were too many motor boats speeding around.
But we can't complain about the wildlife along the stretch of highway we travelled today. We saw 2 caribou,
4 stone sheep,
a moose with calf, another single moose,
a bear and a (live!) porcupine.
