Patagonia Lake State Park

Our next stop was Patagonia Lake State Park.  There is a lake here but none of us got around to taking a picture. We do have a picture of our campsite.

And Mark and Patti's site.

Patagonia Lake is very popular with birders as a place to find rarities like the elegant trogan and the northern beardless tyrannulet. We didn't see either but we did see some fun birds.

This vedin was so cute

It was worth two photos.

Two patient birders directed us to a sora and a Virginia rail feeding at the edge of the reeds.

Virginia rail

Spot the sora!

We saw a number of these iridescent pipevine swallow tails.

Feeding on these yellow-blossomed bushes.
