Paton Hummingbird House

After we left the Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve we stopped off at Patons' Hummingbird House just down the road.  It was gifted to the Audubon Society by the owners. For years they maintained hummingbird feeders visited by hummingbirds seen nowhere else in the US.

This is the violet-crowned hummingbird.

We've also seen them at the Patagonia-Sonoita feeders and at Ramsay Canyon.

Also this broad-billed hummingbird.

Lots of white-winged doves around.

A ladder-backed woodpecker at the feeder.

A curve-billes thrasher

This Coopers Hawk showed up and scattered all the birds.

The sanctuary is raising endangered leopard salamanders.

Unfortunately they had to undergo genetic testing.  If they are hybrids with another species they will be destroyed.
