Brackley Beach to Mount Stewart

Well, our walking itinerary was clearly not working for us.  We thought of bussing to Charlottetown to rent a car but when I checked online there was not a single vehicle available for rental (!).  I'm wondering if they move them all off the island at the end of August?

Instead we decided we'd shuttle to our next stop with our baggage this afternoon and spend the morning enjoying Shaw's.

First we enjoyed our buffet breakfast in their lovely dining room.

After breakfast Patti checked out the cottages on the site

And I walked down to Shaw's Beach

Took the stairway over the dunes and

Walked down Brackley Beach for a few kilometres to Brackley Beach

Where I exited by taking the boardwalk back over the dunes and walked back on the Gulf Shore Parkway.

In the afternoon our shuttle driver Mickey picked us up and took us to the Bao Shack/Trailside Inn in Mount Stewart.

When we arrived a bicyclist was standing outside the building with blood running down his face.  He assured us he was okay but couldn't figure out how to get into his room.  A bit addled from his accident I imagine.  We helped him to unlock his door and made our way into our own room.

It's very cute! It comes with a microwave, a hotplate, refrigerator and a kettle and there's a sitting area outside.

Unfortunately the Bao Shack (the restaurant downstairs) was closed for the season so the only option for meals was the bakery across the street.  We had pizza there for lunch.  We hoped for pie but they only sell whole pies.

Patti made friends with the bakery ladies.

I walked up to the convenience store and bought myself a frozen dinner for supper that I heated up in the microwave.
