Saguaro National Park

 

Slept in late and had to reserve our next campspot so we made a short hike in Saguaro National Park just down the road.

We hiked the Cactus Wren and Manville trails loop.


It starts at the Painted Rock Hill petroglyph site.



Then loops through the desert.  Here we saw two new birds for the trip, gilded flicker and rufous-winged sparrow.

Bird of the Day!

Always time to take an artsy photo of some barrel cactus spines.


We walked up a wash to get back to our starting point.


Meanwhile, back at our campsite we finally had some hummingbirds show up at our feeder.

This picture is blurry but it shows his brilliant purple gorget when the sun hits it right:
